ACCOMODATION

Dakar (2 nights)
Your journey begins at a centrally located boutique hotel in the heart of Dakar. With beautifully designed rooms and an on-site restaurant known for its delicious West African cuisine—including signature jollof rice ‘Thieb’—it’s a perfect base to explore the city’s culture, coast, and markets.
Sine Saloum (2 nights)
Next, head south to a peaceful eco-lodge on the island of Mar Lodj, set within the UNESCO-listed Sine-Saloum Delta.
Stay in charming thatched bungalows, enjoy fresh local meals, and experience true slow living in a warm, community-run setting.
The Petite Côte (4 nights)
Stay in a stylish, modern villa near Saly with a private pool, lush garden, at close proximity to the beach. We choose villas over hotels for one simple reason: better quality, more comfort. Enjoy the privacy of a home with the ease of hotel-style service—including daily housekeeping. With NUKA as your personal concierge, all you need to do is relax.
Please note: The villa photos shown are examples of the standard you can expect. Your specific property in the Petite Cote will be proposed based on availability and the size of your group.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I’ve never been to Africa before, is that ok?
Absolutely! Even more exciting for you, Senegal is a great entry point as Senegalese people are so welcoming! We also organise most things for you so you can sit back and enjoy the ride.
Whats’ the mosquito situation? And are there bugs?
At this time of year we can expect mosquitoes. We recommend bringing insect repellent and wearing long clothes in the evening to avoid the itches. There are bugs but nothing dangerous. We live much more with nature here, it’s part of the beauty.
Is Malaria something to be concerned about?
Malaria is more common during raining season from August-October. Please do your own research and take what you need to feel comfortable and at ease.
Do I need vaccinations?
While no vaccinations are required to enter Senegal, it’s recommended that you consult your local travel clinic or healthcare provider before your trip so you do whatever makes you feel most at ease on your holiday.
What should I wear?
In general, very lightweight clothes. Even though Senegal is very open and accepting, it is still a predominantly Muslim country so we encourage respecting the culture by not dressing provocatively around town. Swimwear is ok by the pool and beach.
What is the weather like?
-
Dry Season (Nov–Jun): Warm and breezy (25–30°C) with low humidity, perfect for beach days and exploring. Between December and March, evenings can feel cooler, so you might want a light jumper for nighttime.
-
Green Season (Jun–Oct): Hotter and more humid (28–35°C) with short tropical showers...lush, peaceful, fewer crowds and cheaper hotel/villa rates.
Where do I fly to?
Dakar Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS), which is about 45 km from Dakar city centre and The Petite Cote. TUI offers direct flights from London Gatwick to DSS seasonally from November to April. For year-round options, check Skyscanner for connecting flights.
Is it safe?
We have never felt safer anywhere in the world like we do in Senegal. But obviously, like anywhere, you should travel with awareness.
Do I need vaccinations?
No vaccinations are mandatory to enter Senegal.
What languages do they speak in Senegal?
Mainly Wolof and French. Google translate will be your best friend and your hosts will be available should you need any assistance.
Can I buy a sim card?
Yes, you can buy sim cards at the airport on arrival.
Cash/cards
It is a cash only culture. There are ATMs at the airport, we recommend getting money out on arrival. Visa is more widely accepted than Mastercard when withdrawing money.
Currency/exchange rate
West African franc (CFA) £1 is 775 CFA. Don’t expect to be able to easily change GBP for CFA here plus the exchange rate rips you off.
Do I need a visa?
No, if you have a British/US/French Passport. Please check the requirements for any other passports.
How do I organise airport transfers?
Your hosts can arrange airport transfers for you at an additional cost. Taking a taxi from the airport can be tricky, especially if there’s a language barrier, so this option makes your arrival and departure smoother and stress-free.

ABOUT NUKA
We are a travel collective crafting soulful experiences in Senegal that blend adventure, culture, and self-discovery.
Founded by sisters-in-law and Senegal locals Nush and Ninka... Nuka was born from a shared feeling: being stuck in lives that looked “fine” on the outside but felt misaligned within. So, we stepped away from the noise, travelled with intention, and found clarity in unfamiliar places.
It was in Senegal that everything shifted. In its rhythm, beauty, and spirit, we began to live more fully, more honestly, more like who we wanted to be.
That’s why we were called to create Nuka: to share this sense of reconnection, expansion, and belonging with others who are ready for something deeper.
