Running Away

Running. What does that look like to you?

Because a lot of the time it doesn’t mean actually going for a run… To some, it means drowning their evenings in endless TV series. To others, it’s drinking copious amounts of wine.

Running. We’re all guilty of it at some point in our lives.

Sometimes, it's in the big things. But more often, it’s in the small, everyday acts. It’s that extra piece of cake, those endless hours of Candy Crush, that filtered Instagram picture or the hours we spend scrolling through our phones. Or maybe it looks like throwing ourselves into work because something is too painful to face. We obsessively put measures in place to fix the problem instead of looking at the cause.

We run from feeling embarrassed. We run from showing ourselves as we truly are. We run from letting them see that we miss them. We run from admitting to ourselves that the thing that happened actually hurts. We run from admitting that we feel vulnerable in a new relationship, a new job, the unknown, or the chapter ahead. We run by saying ‘I’m fine’ when anyone asks.

We spend our lives running.

But what if we stopped, just for a moment? What if we stood still in that uncomfortable feeling? What if we admitted that we were afraid? What if we said the I’m sorry’s and I miss you’s? What if we admitted, I just wanted to hurt you, or I hate you, but actually, I love you? What if we said, I don’t believe I deserve this job, but I’ll risk embarrassing myself anyway, or I’ve been hurt, but I’ll try again?

What if, for just a minute, we stood still and stopped running?

Pause. Breathe. Transform.

The truth is, stopping feels hard. Facing what we run from—fear, rejection, pain, or the unknown—is never easy. And we know that simply talking about it isn’t always enough.

Lots of love, Ninka
